Wincanton Racecourse has announced trainers’ wives Ciara Fry, Rachael Honeyball and Jade Barber as their 2019 Ladies Night ambassadors.

This year, Ladies Night, which is sponsored by Clarks Village, falls on Thursday, May 9 and as part of their ambassador roles, the ladies will be judging the best dressed ladies during a fun packed evening, which will also include live music post-racing.

Ciara, Rachael and Jade are married to Harry, Anthony and Jack respectively and they live on the Somerset Dorset border within a stone’s throw of each other near Beaminster, sharing the same gallops owned by Richard Barber.

Ciara said: “I’m honoured to be one of Wincanton’s Ladies Night ambassadors and it is such a treat to be asked. Ladies nights are always so popular. They are a super way to enjoy an evening at the races, while dressing up for the occasion too, and it’s great to be asked to get involved and help promote a great night out.”

Jade added: “It’s lovely to be able to do this, especially with Rachael and Ciara as we are all such good friends.”

They are all expert horsewomen too, with both Rachael and Ciara working full time assisting their husbands in the day to day running of their racing yards, and riding out four horses every day, while Jade rides out once a day and runs the office.

Rachael, a former national point-to-point champion with more than 150 winners in point-to-points and under rules, said: “It’s a privilege to be asked to be an ambassador for our local racecourse where I’ve had such a long association, from going with mum and dad when I was very young, to coming back on a bigger scale as a trainer’s wife. It’s lovely to be doing it with two such good friends too.”

The ladies are all mums too – Rachael to Harry, three and Hattie, 18 months, Ciara to Ruby four, and Erin, 18 months, and Jade to Florence, 10 months.

By their own admission, they say breeches, wellies and muddy jackets are their usual attire, but to launch their ambassador roles they were invited by the evening’s sponsor Clarks Village, the UK’s first outlet centre in the heart of Somerset, for a fashion shoot and to choose an outfit each for the evening.

Centre Manager at Clarks Village, Chris Davis, said: “We were thrilled to host Ciara, Rachel and Jade for the day at Clarks Village. They all found their Ladies Night outfits and looked fabulous in their finds. We’re very proud to support Ladies Night at Wincanton Racecourse, and we’re looking forward to a thoroughly glamorous day. Racegoers can rest assured that they can find their winning Ladies Night look at Clarks Village, whilst enjoying a fun day out.”

Ciara added: “It was such a lovely day and so nice to get out of my wellies and to shop for the afternoon. There’s everything you want at Clarks Village and its ideal for racegoers. You’re guaranteed to find a lovely outfit there.”

During Ladies Night there is a chance to win an array of prizes, including vouchers to spend at Clarks Village.

General manager Huw Williams said: “We’re really excited to welcome Ciara, Rachael and Jade on board as our ladies’ night ambassadors. They’re all working mums and entrenched in racing and horses, and it’s been wonderful working with them. We’re sure ladies’ night is going to be bigger and better than ever before.”

The styling for the shoot featured the brands Hobbs London, Mint Velvet and Dune London at Clarks Village.
