Budding photographers with a love of horse racing will have the opportunity to take part in a one-off photography workshop at Exeter Racecourse.
Malcolm Snelgrove has teamed up with the racecourse to offer people the chance to learn photography skills against the backdrop of the course’s Devon Day on November 20 when the racing Clydesdales, ridden by professional jockeys, will be in action.
Photographers will also be given the opportunity to capture the power and energy of racehorses as they jump a flight of hurdles, leap over a chase fence or battle it out down the home straight to glory at the winning post.
General manager Daniel Thompson said: “We’ve never done this before, but we thought Devon Day offers a superb opportunity to capture on camera the many different aspects of a race day. The Clydesdales will be magnificent to photograph. Then there are the jubilant faces of the crowds, the various activities we have taking place, the wonderful colours of the jockeys silks which brighten up event the gloomiest of days and of course the horses.”
Malcolm added: “It is a wonderful opportunity for any photographer, whether amateur or professional. Nothing beats a day at the races, and Devon Day at Exeter looks set to provide many photographic opportunities.
Malcolm is an ambassador for Visit Dartmoor. He also hosts many different workshops from working with free rider Emma Massingale and her team of Connemara’s to study days at British Eventing competitions.
